Atrium Health Greater Charlotte Programs
Greater Charlotte Student Nurse Scholars Program Details and Eligibility
- Currently in good standing in a pre-licensure Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) academic program. Completion of first semester of pre-licensure LPN or RN nursing program preferred.
- Nurse Aide I or II credentials required before start date.
- Participants must be able to work at a facility in the Atrium Health Greater Charlotte area. PRN (minimum of three 12 hour shifts in a six-week period). Part-time, and Full-time positions may be available.
- Students must remain in good standing with their nursing academic program to participate.
- All participants are eligible for up to $3,000 in prepaid tuition assistance, after 90 days of employment.
- There is a one-year work commitment that begins once the tuition assistance is received.
Greater Charlotte Student Nurse Psychiatric Tech Scholars Program Details and Eligibility
- Currently in good standing in a Registered Nurse Academic program. Completion of first semester of pre-licensure RN academic program preferred.
- Relevant patient care experience in a hospital setting preferred.
- PRN (minimum of three 12 hour shifts in a six-week period), Part-time, and Full-time positions may be available.
- Student must remain in good standing with their nursing academic program to participate.
- All participants are eligible for up to $3,000 in prepaid tuition assistance, after 90 days of employment.

Greater Charlotte Student Nurse Extern Program Details and Eligibility
- Open to nursing students graduating in Fall/Winter 2025 or Spring 2026. Nurse Scholars and nursing students who are home on summer break are eligible to participate.
- 8-week summer program for rising senior nursing students.
- Nurse Aide credentials required before March 1, 2025.
- 24 (Part-time) or 36 (Full-time) hours per week in an Atrium Health Greater Charlotte facility.
- This 8-week program provides one-on-one clinical experience with a RN preceptor and includes nursing professional development workshops and shadowing opportunities.
- 2025 Program dates are - May 19th - July 12th and June 2nd - July 26th

Atrium Health Navicent Programs
Atrium Health Navicent Student Nurse Extern Program Details and Eligibility
- Open to any nursing student who has completed their first semester that includes Basic Fundamentals of Nursing course in an accredited School of Nursing
- Be in good standing within the nursing program and maintain GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
- Satisfactory Reference Form
- Able to work a minimum of (1) 12 hour shift per month in an Atrium Health Navicent facility.
- Program start date is December 9, 2024. Must be available to attend orientation classes the whole week.

Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Programs
Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Nurse Externship Program
The Nurse Summer Externship Program at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist offers a nine-week paid opportunity for rising senior nursing students to gain valuable hands-on experience working alongside our experienced team in our five hospitals: Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, High Point Medical Center, Lexington Medical Center, Davie Medical Center, and Wilkesboro Medical Center.
Nurse Externs discover new nursing specialties by shadowing experts in various specialty areas, attending educational sessions about clinical and professional topics, and developing clinical and leadership skills while preparing to become registered nurses.
- Rising senior undergraduate nursing student in an accredited Associate or Bachelor of nursing program
- Scheduled to complete Med/Surg clinical by Spring 2025
- Must be listed as an NA I with the North Carolina Nurse Aide Registry by January 31, 2025
- Must have NA II licensure posted on the North Carolina Board of Nursing by May 12, 2025
- Must be available for summer employment, including rotating shifts, weekends and holidays
