Overview
NICU is a 22-bed clinical unit caring primarily for patients with a variety of neurological injuries and/or impairments. This unit offers specialized, continuous nursing care for neurologically ill or injured patients who can benefit from either intensive monitoring and/or intensive treatment. RNs new to NICU nursing are enrolled in the Critical Care Academy (CCA).

The CCA is a competency-based orientation program that includes:
bedside experience with a dedicated Preceptor
didactic classes utilizing, in part, the Essentials of Critical Care Orientation (from the American Association of Critical Care Nurses)
seminars which help to connect the didactic learning with the clinical experience
simulation labs to increase assessment, competency, and critical thinking skills.

Continuing education
What you will need:
Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in nursing
Current valid Georgia nursing license or eNLC nursing license
Current nursing student graduating from an accredited RN education program
