The director of admissions and recruitment supervises and manages daily operations of the office of admissions and recruitment. Primary responsibilities include: support and development of a comprehensive, high-quality, data-informed, and evidenced-based strategic admissions program that services all programs at the college, enrollment management planning, oversight of student recruitment, onboarding, orientation, and enrollment processes. Development and implementation of marketing and public relations strategies for recruitment and management of the department’s fiscal and human resources.

Responsible for strategic enrollment management and departmental research and planning:

• Designs, implements, and revises a comprehensive strategic enrollment management plan in collaboration with college administration and academic departments.

• Coordinates the development, assessment, and revision of departmental goals and objectives.

• Conducts environmental scans to establish strong target markets and develop new recruitment markets for enhancing enrollment.

• Creates and maintains positive relationships with local and regional high schools, community colleges, community agencies and others for promoting the college and attracting new students.

• Serves as the primary point of contact for admissions and recruitment of assigned programs and participate as needed on program advisory boards.

• Utilizes predicting modeling to establish and develop short term and long term (5-10 year) strategic enrollment plans.

• Possess knowledge of national and regional best practices, and data collection and analysis strategies for the purpose of supporting continued and new activities.

• Possess the knowledge and maintain the ability to utilize enrollment modeling data, trends, systems and reporting to inform strategic direction of new student recruiting.

• Ensures that information sessions and other enrollment/recruiting events are appropriately planned and executed.

• Serve as the primary point of contact for admissions and recruitment with the program chairs for all programs.

• Serves as the admissions liaison to Atrium Health. This includes working with nurse managers, physicians, Atrium Health medical facilities, and all Atrium Health teammates to actively recruit within the Atrium Health system as well as other relevant entities.

• Keeps relevant statistics on all aspects of the admissions program.

• Presents the college with studies, reports, and analyses of admissions data as requested.

• Works collaboratively with colleagues in financial aid, registrar, student success and other campus offices to ensure a consistent and smooth transition from applicant to student.

• Collaborates with the coordinator of student success to assess student success data and identify recommended changes to the admission criteria based on those findings.

• Develops informative and engaging presentations to represent the college in the community for recruitment.


Responsible for the research, planning and assessment of all marketing and promotional materials for the office of admissions and recruitment.

• Leads the planning of marketing material for the admissions social media web-sites and recommend ideas for improvement

• Leads production of communication materials identified and approved through the enrollment management process.

• Establishes a system to identify prospective students through market and applicant research.

• Maintains specific knowledge and updates including competitors

• Develops and implements admissions and recruitment marketing plans, publications, and web strategies to inform and attract prospective students.

• In close collaboration with academic and administrative departments create and coordinate marketing materials and recruitment communication practices.

Responsible for coordinating new student onboarding and orientation activities.

• Plans, develops, lead, evaluates and manage all aspects of the onsite and online new student orientation programs and new student onboarding.

• Leads all aspects of communicating New Student Orientation to the campus community and the public.

• Manages new student onboarding websites/webpages and coordinate updates/changes as needed.

• Collaborates with the coordinator of admissions and recruitment to train, deploy, and evaluate student ambassadors who participate in new student orientation events.

• Develops and submits an orientation budget as part of the overall admissions budget request for inclusion in the student affairs budget.

• Participates in the development and monitoring of a recruitment plan to ensure effective recruitment events and successful new student orientation.

• Leads the new student onboarding focus group through the yearly planning process.

• Leads the development, implementation, and ongoing management of the online orientation program for online programs.

• Establishes and maintain effective working relationships internally with other departments, divisions, and programs to maximize cooperation and collaboration for all aspects of new student orientation.


Directs the admissions process from point of inquiry through enrollment

• Collaborates with each program to develop appropriate admission criteria.

• Presents positive impression of the college to prospective students and parents which includes: systematic and efficient handling of applications and communications, organizing inviting tours of the institution, conducting informative interviews with candidates and their parents, providing arrangements for admissions testing, securing required student credentials, and tactfully communicating final decisions to the appropriate individuals.

• Coordinates the review of applications for admission in collaboration with program chairs, if needed.

• Manages processes related to review of background checks and maintenance of related documents.

• Collaborate with the coordinator of student health to ensure newly enrolled students meet all program specific health admission requirements prior to matriculation.

Department Management

• Forecasts needs and develops short and long-range goals for the office of admissions and recruitment.

• Reviews and approves expenditures in line with the approved budget and reconciles differences.

• Selects, trains, motivates, and annually evaluates performance of admissions and recruitment personnel.

• Provides staff development and continuing education opportunities on an on-going basis to ensure a strong recruitment team and execution of best practices.

• Establishes, implements, assesses, and revises policies, procedures, and data processing systems.

• Supervises admissions and recruitment staff and day-to-day operations of the office.

• Plans and conducts staff meetings.

• Delegates and monitors duties and responsibilities of personnel according to plans and needs.

• Extended periods of standing, walking, sitting, bending, and stretching as well as frequent movements throughout the College and agency campuses.

• Visual and auditory acuity within normal lines or corrected.

• Occasional driving to other locations.

• Travel and overnight stays associated with College business.

• Long periods of standing during recruitment programs.

• Climate controlled environment with occasional exposure to inclement weather.

• Moderate to heavy lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of recruitment materials and equipment.



 Bachelor’s degree in student services, higher education administration or other related field required. Master’s degree preferred.

• A minimum of five years’ experience in college admissions and/or enrollment management with a proven record of accomplishment in exceeding goals and objectives; or comparable experience.

• Excellent word-processing, spreadsheet, and database computer skills.

• Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills.

• Prefer marketing and publication design experience.

• Must be able to meet the Atrium Health’s auto insurance carrier’s insurability criteria.



• Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and possesses the ability to respond to age-specific issues and data reflective of the patient’s status.
