Overview

his position is Sign-on Bonus eligible. Experienced RNs with a minimum of 1 year of experience are eligible for a bonus of $10,000 for Full Time positions, and $5,000 for Part Time positions. The Cancer and Blood Disorders Clinic at Atrium Health Levine Children’s Hospital is an extraordinary team of clinicians using some of the most advanced treatments and techniques in the fight against childhood cancer.  Our team of board-certified pediatric hematology and oncology physicians, specialty trained advanced practice providers and nurses, research coordinators, social workers, research pharmacists and support staff are here to help children battling pediatric cancers such as solid tumors, brain tumors, leukemia and lymphomas, and blood disorders, including anemia, sickle cell and hemophilia.

Our infusion center has 16 chairs. Hours are 0730-1800. Days may vary but are M-F. Infusion RNs are crossed trained to sedation recovery for sedated procedures and high acuity infusions. 

Atrium Health Levine Children’s Hospital (LCH) has taken us to another level of service, to care for the growing population of children’s in our region.  At 247 beds, LCH is the largest children’s hospital between Atlanta and Washington DC.  It serves high patient acuity as the flagship children’s hospital within the innovative Atrium Health and offers a full complement of over 125 pediatric subspecialists in over 25 different pediatric specialties.  There are 4 pediatric hospitalist teams, a 20-bed PICU (including Cardiac ICU), an 85-bed NICU< and an inpatient pediatric rehabilitation facility.  Levine Children’s also has the region’s first 24/7 emergency room just for kids, staffed by doctors trained in pediatric emergency medicine.  LCH has repeatedly been ranked among the “Best Children’s Hospitals” in the nation by US News & World Report.

Job Summary

Assesses and diagnosis patients in a practice setting. Identifies outcomes, implements treatment and coordinates care. Performs and assists with oncology and infusion related treatments, therapies, and procedures.



Essential Functions

  • Identifies expected outcomes for patients' individualized treatment plan.
  • Implements identified treatment plan and coordinates all aspects of care delivery.
  • Provides education and counseling to patient and family members regarding identified health needs, health care activities, immunization requirements, medication effects and contraindications.
  • Meets specific clinical needs of oncology and infusion patients by using knowledge and expertise.
  • Recognizes medication mid solution incompatibilities and factors affecting stability.
  • Performs facility acuity coding by selecting the appropriate level of service for a diverse patient population, ensures that all pertinent clinical information is documented in the patient's medical record and supports the level of service selected.

     

Physical Requirements

 

Work requires walking, standing, sitting, lifting, reaching, bending, pushing and pulling. Work requires lifting 75 pounds. Must speak English fluently and in understandable terms. Must possess an intact sense of sight, hearing, smell, touch, and finger dexterity. Must have the ability to concentrate. Must be able to respond quickly to changes in patient and/or clinic conditions.



Education, Experience and Certifications

Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing required. BSN preferred. Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse or temporary license as a Registered Nurse Petitioner in the state of North Carolina required. Oncology experience preferred. Proficiency in IV therapy, bone marrow, spinals, thoracenteses, paracenteses and phlebotomy preferred. Oncology certification preferred. Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) from AHA required.
