Job Summary

Oversees the nursing division of the college, to include the associate degree program and all classes/courses taught under the auspices of the school of nursing. Manages full-time and part-time nursing faculty and appropriate support personnel. Manages the academic unit, to include: fiscal responsibility, curriculum development and course delivery, program assessment and improvement, adherence to approval and accreditation bodies' requirements, document preparation, and maintenance of high-quality programs which serve the needs of the college, the students, the healthcare system, and the community.

Essential Functions

• Promotes the college's core values and standards of excellence through teamwork, caring, commitment to our mission and values, integrity, respectful communication, maintenance of a safe and professional environment, synergistic partnership with those we serve, and anticipation of students', colleagues' and customers' needs.
• Maintains responsibility for the quality management of the school of nursing academic unit.
• Works with associate dean and non-credit course coordinators to assign faculty workloads, considering individual areas of expertise and equality of assignments.
• Acts on recommendations from the progression/promotion committee regarding issues related to student progression, including dismissal.
• Ensures that monthly faculty meetings are held.

   

Physical Requirements

 

Office, and travel time; majority of time distributed between intra and extra facility. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Occasionally lifts, pushes, pulls and carries items weighing up to 30 pounds. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Requires some exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids, toxic substances, medicinal reparations and other conditions common to clinical environment. Sitting, including typing, telephone communication inter and intra-departmental. Responsible for working in a safe manner.

Education, Experience and Certifications

NC RN licensure required. BSN and MSN required. Previous experience in ADN education program required. 4 years nursing practice experience including 2 calendar years clinical nursing practice as a RN, 3 years nursing education experience, and 1 year program management experience required. Knowledge of accreditation processes required.
