Atrium Health Employer Health Solutions is comprised of experienced full-time advanced practice providers (APP) with a minimum of 4 years of practice experience, preferably in primary care/family practice, urgent care, or emergency medicine. The ideal candidate will be proficient in performing minimally invasive procedures as listed below. This position is occupied by a board-certified nurse practitioners (NP) or physician assistant (PA) who is specifically trained and proficient in ambulatory medicine, primary care (chronic disease management and preventative healthcare) and occupational medicine. The provider in this position will serve as the health care provider for a designated employer. The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is responsible for assessing, diagnosing, stabilizing, and treating patients with acute and chronic medical conditions as well as performing occupational medicine examinations. The provider is expected to oversee and manage daily operations of their clinic, ensuring appropriate clinical staff workflow, teamwork and communication, outstanding patient experience and team compliance with system metrics and protocols. It is also expected the provider will offer insight and recommendations leading to support and growth of the clinic and share critical information with leaders and managers in a timely manner. Patient care may include, but is not limited to, patients experiencing acute symptomatic complaints, control of chronic disease and worker’s compensation injuries.   

Position Description:

• OnSite Clinic located on the Johnson C. Smith University campus
• Location and schedule are variable dependent on clinic location and employer contract
  • Hours of operation for this clinic location will be:
    • Monday-Thursday 10a-5p (Lunch 12p-1p)
    • Friday OFF
• Weekends, Holidays possible. Call rotation approximately 3-4 weeks per year depending on staffing.
• Most clinics with lab on-site
• Clinic staffing varies according to clinic contract with employer
• Caring for a defined, stable patient population
• Management of acute illnesses, chronic disease management, worker’s compensation and possibly occupational medicine depending on employer contract
• Assisting with patient completion of preventative care and routine health maintenance
• Performance of procedures: 
  • Phlebotomy
  • Simple laceration repair
  • Incision and drainage
  • EKG testing and interpretation
  • Splint application
  • Nasal packing for epistaxis
  • Administration of local anesthesia and digital blocks
  • Simple burn management
  • Closed reductions of finger, nursemaid’s elbow and/or toe
  • Drainage of paronychia
  • Subungual hematoma evacuation
  • Skin tag excision
  • Eye irrigation/FB removal
  • Pelvic examination/PAP testing
  • Audiometry testing and interpretation
  • Spirometry testing and interpretation
  • FB removal (subcutaneous, pinna, intranasal, vaginal)
  • Cerumen irrigation
  • PPD administration
  • IM medication/immunization administration
• Eligible for PTO and merit-based bonuses
• $2500/5 days of CME

Position Qualifications:

• Nurse Practitioner Requirements:
  • Graduation from an accredited NP program with a master’s degree or doctorate in nursing practice
  • ACNP, AGACNP, AGNP, PNP, or PNP-AC board certification preferred
  • Eligible for prescriptive authority application through Board of Nursing required
• Physician Assistant Requirements:
  • Graduation from an accredited PA program with a master’s degree.
  • Current certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. 
• 4+ years of clinical practice experience required 
• BLS for healthcare provider from AHA required
• Current prescriptive privileges and DEA license preferred
• Experience in emergency medicine, urgent care, primary care/family practice preferred.
• Demonstrates appropriate critical thinking and interpersonal skills when working in a fast paced, high acuity work environment. Able to perform thorough history and physical assessment.  
• Able to evaluate, assess and develop differential diagnosis and treatment plans.
• NC/SC licensure
• Required competence in procedural skills including phlebotomy, simple laceration repair, incision and drainage, EKG interpretation, and splint application
