Overview

Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Faculty Psychologist for our Pain Shared Services team. In this role, you will work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement integrated treatment plans for patients experiencing chronic pain.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct patient care, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of psychological and emotional factors that contribute to chronic pain
  • Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans, using techniques such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR), and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT)
  • Collaborate with physicians, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement integrated treatment plans that address both the physical and psychological aspects of pain
  • Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding pain management strategies, coping skills, and self-care practices
  • Supervise and mentor trainees and other mental health providers, as well as participate in research and quality improvement initiatives related to pain management

Requirements:

  • Doctoral degree in psychology (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) from an accredited university
  • Completion of a pre-doctoral internship and postdoctoral fellowship in clinical psychology
  • Licensure or eligibility for licensure as a psychologist in the state where services are provided
  • At least five years of experience working as a pain psychologist, preferably in a healthcare setting
  • Knowledge of evidence-based treatments for chronic pain, such as CBT, MBSR, and ACT
  • Strong clinical and diagnostic skills, with the ability to develop and implement individualized treatment plans
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of healthcare professionals
  • Demonstrated commitment to teaching, research, and quality improvement initiatives related to pain management
