Overview

Maintenance Mechanic

What will you do: 
Performs a variety of tasks relating to the maintenance and repair of HVAC systems, vacuum systems, pumps, boilers, fans, and other environmental systems.  Utilizes computer control systems to maintain the proper environment within the hospital. Maintains Hospital Facilities after hours.

Major job functions

Effectively communicates status of work request to affected Hospital staff.  Complies with Facilities Management policies regarding completion of work orders.  Maintains timely and accurate data entry into work order system.  Prioritizes work orders and ensures completion of assignments in timely manner. Works with affected departments to remedy immediate problems and follows up to ensure customer satisfaction.

Follows all established safety and infection prevention policies and procedures. Properly maintains tools, equipment and work areas to maintain a safe work environment. 

Responsible for accurately tracking and managing expenses for the projects or work orders assigned.  May serve as temporary Supervisor on special project assignments.  May direct the work of subcontractors on projects as needed.

Reads plans, blueprints, and sketches of renovation or demolition as needed.  Completes work independently or as a part of a team based upon direction and/or by reading these plans.  Checks facilities for compliance with Life Safety Code and updates plans accordingly.

Performs maintenance and repairs on designated equipment, including but not limited to boilers, exercise equipment, Environmental Services equipment, Nutrition Services equipment, etc.   Maintains repair and inspection logs on equipment within established and recommended guidelines.  Maintains knowledge of systems within departments assigned, including sanitary sewer, HVAC and electrical and provides technical assistance to these departments.  Can perform journeyman level work on any of these systems independently and performs preventative maintenance on them as needed. 

This position will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of commercial kitchen equipment ( gas stoves, deep fryers, and griddle, dish machines, serving lines, tray lines , food warming cabinets, refrigeration equipment) and repair of hospital transporter equipment ( wheelchairs and beds ).

What will you need:

High school diploma or GED

5 years maintenance experience
