Overview

Job Summary

Responsible for the coordination of activities related to patient and family education on an outpatient basis. This includes programs and communications with various members of the management team, assessing, planning, coordinating, allocating of resources, training and quality evaluation. Serves a vital role in performing marketing activities to promote Maternity Services to the community.



Essential Functions

  • Networks with Physicians, Physician Practice Managers and Department Leadership to identify needs for programs and marketing of services.
  • Networks with the Marketing Department to obtain resources for marketing Maternity Services in community events.
  • Participates in area community events to provide outreach and marketing of maternity services.
  • Functions as Webpage site maker to maintain current schedule on Maternity Education Class Webpage.
  • Assesses, plans, coordinates and evaluates Maternity Education programs to ensure quality and effective educational programs.
  • Organizes and coordinates activities to provide for a smooth, cost effective operation.
  • Coordinates schedules for maternity education classes and tours with childbirth instructors.
  • Provides supervision to childbirth instructors.
  • Participates with performance improvement activities, analyzes and interprets data.
  • Coordinates with Life Support Education Coordinator to provide delivery of life support courses following AHA guidelines and serves as faculty member.

     

Physical Requirements
Walking, standing, sitting, reaching, bending, stooping, pushing and pulling. Must be able to lift and support weight of books and equipment up to 30 pounds.



Education, Experience and Certifications

Graduate from accredited school of nursing or other Healthcare Related Degree. If an RN must have a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina. Bachelor’s Degree in nursing preferred. Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) from AHA. Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Maternal/Newborn nursing or other relevant experience. Previous leadership experience preferred. Certified Childbirth Educator (willingness to obtain within 1 year of hire). Certification as BLS instructor/faculty member (willingness to obtain within 1 year of hire)
