Job Summary

Performs duties of moderate to high complexity, judgment and scope. Assists in preparing Medicare and Medicaid cost reports, wage index reviews, and other reimbursement analyses. Prepares workpapers to support the cost reports, and analyzes the data for accuracy and additional reimbursement opportunities; is a resource to other reimbursement analysts.

Essential Functions

  • Gathers and analyzes the data used in the preparation of the Medicare and Medicaid cost reports as it relates to the following reimbursement specialty areas, including, but not limited to: Graduate Medical Education, Organ Acquisition, Wage Index, and Nursing & Allied Health.
  • Gathers and analyzes the data for Medicare & Medicaid audits, Appeals, and Reopenings.
  • Reviews workpapers related to the above listed areas and recommends adjustments.
  • Analyzes the impact of proposed cost report changes and implements approved changes in the work papers and cost reports.
  • Prepares the quarterly Medicare/Medicaid cost report settlement estimates and maintains the general reserve for the assigned hospitals; is able to revise the models to reflect any regulation changes, as necessary.
  • May be asked to participate in other reimbursement related projects on an as-needed basis.
Physical Requirements

May be required to complete on-site facility visits as it relates to cost report audits.

Education, Experience and Certifications

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field is required. Minimum of 7 years of experience in healthcare reimbursement preferred. Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.  Experience using the Microsoft Office Suite including Office 365, Microsoft Teams and other similar tools are preferred.
