If it’s possible, you will find it at Atrium Health – the leading community-focused academic healthcare system serving North Carolina and South Carolina. We invite Neonatal-Perinatal Physicians to discover all that we can do when we bring healing hearts, inquisitive minds and progressive visionaries together within our Division of Neonatology team at Atrium Health Levine Children’s Hospital in Charlotte, NC.

Atrium Health Levine Children’s Hospital (LCH) is currently seeking a board certified (or board eligible if just finishing fellowship) Neonatologist. The new neonatologist will be joining a group of 23 established neonatologists, who provide care at five metro area Neonatology Intensive Care Units (NICU). This role will be primarily based at Atrium Health Levine Children’s Hospital with a Level IV, 85 bed NICU consisting of 53 intensive care beds and 32 step-down beds serving more than 1,100 admissions annually. LCH is the Level IV referral center for the entire region and provides all subspecialty newborn care including ECMO, hypothermia neonatal hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy, extremely premature infants and surgical infants including those with congenital heart disease. LCH has a well-regarded pediatric residency with 36 residents who rotate through the NICU. Additional metro NICUs are at nearby Carolinas HealthCare System (CHS) Pineville (10 NICU beds), CHS Union (8 beds), CHS University (9 beds), and Jeff Gordon Children’s Hospital (20 NICU beds).

The division hosts robust quality improvement and educational initiatives. We are seeking a strong clinician who will be active in our commitment to clinical excellence, quality improvement, and medical education. Ideal candidates are those individuals with an interest in pursuing scholarly activities that are anticipated to lead to academic promotion. Opportunities for leadership in specialized clinical program development such as ECMO, Neuro-NICU, BPD and management of acute and chronic renal failure are available.

Carolinas Medical Center (CMC), an 860-bed academic medical center in Charlotte, NC, is the flagship hospital of Atrium Health and is on the same campus as the 236 bed Atrium Health Levine Children’s Hospital (247 beds). Atrium Health Levine Children’s Hospital (LCH)is the most comprehensive children’s hospital between Atlanta and Washington, DC, helping families stay close to home. Serving high patient acuity as the flagship children’s hospital within the innovative Atrium Health (formerly Carolinas HealthCare System) LCH has 236 beds and offers more than 150 specialists across more than 30 pediatric specialties.

Atrium Health Levine Children’s Hospital has 4 pediatric hospitalist teams, a 20-bed PICU (including cardiac ICU), an 85-bed NICU, and an inpatient pediatric rehabilitation facility. LCH hosts a premier Pediatrics Residency Program, serves as a teaching hospital for medical students, and offers excellent support for clinical research and quality improvement. Additionally, Atrium Health and Wake Forest Baptist Health, including Wake Forest School of Medicine, officially joined together as a single enterprise, Atrium Health. Wake Forest Baptist Health and Wake Forest School of Medicine will become the academic core of Atrium Health, building a second campus of the school of medicine in Charlotte, which is currently the largest city in the U.S. without a 4-year medical school. The growth of the school of medicine will expand existing academic research capabilities in a way that expands opportunities for clinical trials across a large, diverse market with some of the nation’s leading medical experts.

LCH has repeatedly been ranked among the Best Children’s Hospitals in the nation by U.S. News & World Report, most recently in eight pediatric specialties for 2020-2021 including Neonatology, Pulmonology, Cancer, Gastroenterology and GI Surgery, Cardiology and Heart Surgery, Nephrology, Neurology and Neurosurgery and Orthopedics. Carolinas Medical Center along with LCH has earned Magnet designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center. The Magnet program recognizes health-care organizations for their focus on improving patient care, safety and satisfaction. It also helps foster a collaborative culture for nurses, while working to advance standards and practices of care.
