Overview

Job Summary

Operates up to a tractor/trailer truck and other large passenger vehicles in a safe manner following the federal/state local motor carrier safety regulations to deliver and/or transport supplies, linen and other couriered-type items to various related facilities. Loads and unloads goods in a safe acceptable manner



Essential Functions

  • Maintains vehicles in a neat, clean orderly and fueled condition. Demonstrates correct procedures including safety in truck/bus operation. Maintains contact with leader for delivery instructions and updates.
  • Operates all vehicles in a safe and secure manner including securing/stabilizing all goods being transported and using seat belts. Obeys all traffic/driving laws and System-related policies and procedures.
  • Always friendly and courteous at all times on the job. Maintains confidentially of all patient/resident information. Obtains proper signatures as needed. Assists in overseeing the maintenance of all vehicles.
  • Supports leadership in emergency situations. Takes leadership role in reporting problems and potential problems. Read manifest/bill of lading to determine assignment.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to drive for extended periods of time, push or pull carts /pallets that weighs up to 700 pounds and lift and carry up to 70 pounds. Considerable walking, standing, wide range of body movements involved in stooping, reaching, lifting, pushing, and pulling. Some work areas are subject to high level of noise, heat humidity and undesirable odors. Must be able to drive vehicles safely in all types of weather.



Education, Experience and Certifications

High School Diploma or GED required. Valid North or South Carolina Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with no moving violations in the last 3 years and at least 2 years of experience in a related capacity required. DOT physical required every 2 years or as needed. Must complete the 4 hour Defensive Driving Course and attend the annual driver safety 2 hour course. Driver must complete driver performance evaluation/road test. Minimum age 21 years old (cross state line).
