Ensures safe and timely transportation for the residents. Promotes safety maintaining professional competency and follows the facility policy on drivers safety in the application of the principles of his/her responsibilities.

Essential Functions

  • Works closely with the admission coordinator, clinical staff, doctor’s offices, hospitals and all other agencies to ensure safe & timely transportation is provided for the residents.
  • Ensures compliance with organizational requirements, policies and procedures related to driving a company vehicle.
  • Ensures all other duties required to ensure the safety of the residents’ during transportation per facility policies & procedures and State and Federal regulation are followed.
  • Ensure the safe transport of residents by properly securing with a seat belt installed by the manufacturer.
  • Maintains transportation board with current transport activity to ensure communication with facility staff.
  • Completes daily trip logs and preventative maintenance sheets.
  • Reports faulty equipment immediately.
  • Ensures all charges are completed, appropriate and given to the financial department in a timely manner.
  • Ensure the vehicle is maintained in a standardized and uniform manner in accordance with the manufacturer's specification and maintenance schedule.


Physical Requirements
Almost all of the time is spent standing, walking and driving with assignments requiring a substantial amount of stooping, kneeling, pushing, and pulling of occupied wheelchairs/transport chairs. Requires consistent use of manual dexterity. Routinely required to move, lift or carry up to 25 to 50 pounds. Must be able to see well enough to distinguish cleaning needs and quality. Ability to hear and verbally communicate may be required depending on assignment.

Education, Experience and Certifications.
High School Diploma or Equivalent required. Valid Drivers Licenses with acceptable driving record as evidenced by a current Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) required. 1 year experience in long term care preferred.
