Position Summary:

The AVP, Enterprise Executive Compensation and Physician Benefits (GCR) will lead the delivery of executive total compensation across the Enterprise, and physician benefits for the Greater Charlotte Region. This role manages a team of HR Consultants in the data management, administration, client service, communication and compliance of specialized compensation and benefit programs for executives and physicians, including health and income protection benefits, and qualified and nonqualified retirement plans, for the executive and physician teammates of Atrium Health.

This leadership role is primarily an operational team leader and go-to on administration, data management, and client services for leaders, other HR Centers of Expertise and the HR Business Partners. Additionally, the AVP will collaborate across HR and other functional areas (e.g., Legal, Finance, PSVO and Strategy), and with external counsel and vendors, to deliver programs that support Atrium Health’s mission, vision, and values; strategic priorities; and executive compensation principles and policies. This position will report into the Vice President, Executive HR Business Partner.

Position Accountabilities:

  1. Responsible for leading an administration team to ensure individual and team performance meets Enterprise/Region/Market commitments and department goals and objectives.
  2. Ensure a strong focus on clients’ experience to include timeliness of response, degree of personalization (as appropriate), and accuracy/quality of work, while meeting the demanding needs of a complex, matrixed and fast-paced environment.
  3. Partner across the Enterprise and with all levels of leaders and teammates -- including Legal, Finance, the HR Business Partners and other COEs -- to develop and deliver on programs and initiatives.
  4. Exceptional project management skills, including the development and management of project plans, milestones, and timelines; identifying key stakeholders and risk factors; and holding project team members accountable for their contributions.
  5. Develop and implement standard operating procedures, with a continuous improvement feedback loop, that is scalable across the Enterprise and ensures accountability and a level of efficiency and effectiveness aligned with a highly matrixed organization.
  6. Trusted advisor to internal clients and a driver of individual accountability, operational excellence and service delivery.
  7. Collaborate with other COEs in the delivery of client solutions and contribute to the value proposition of a cohesive and comprehensive approach, lending value to the client team.
  8. Partner with internal legal and finance teams, and external counsel and advisors, to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including those related to 501(c)(3) status of strategic partners and AH Inc. imposed on compensation and benefits, including the reporting requirements reporting requirements.
  9. Develop and analyze performance data as part of monitoring and measuring productivity, goal progress and activity levels, and reallocate resources accordingly.
  10. Ensure administration and delivery of all programs is scalable and well-aligned with the enterprise delivery model.



Education: Masters’ degree/candidacy required

  • Ability to leverage skill sets, design experiences and restructure responsibilities to effectively mitigate the risk inherent in a small team with specialized program knowledge

Project Management, Change Leadership, and Influence

  • Experience and proficiency managing complex projects and influencing cross-functional teams to execute on business strategy, goals, and objectives with a solutions-based approach
  • Experience and proficiency influencing and championing change across all levels of the organization, utilizing proven change management processes

General Experience/Expertise Preferred

  • Previous experience in executive compensation and benefits experience preferred; human resources experience in a centralized delivery model and growth-oriented corporate function a plus
  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills, and attention to detail
  • Experience with HRM and HRIS systems, or similar technologies/platforms a plus
