Overview

Job Summary

The Privacy Officer supports the Atrium Health Navicent (AHN) Privacy Program, as well as the Chief Privacy Officer, Vice President, and Assistant Vice President of Corporate Compliance.  S/he is responsible for the development, expansion, implementation, assessment, and maintenance of the Atrium Health Enterprise Privacy Program, including focus on designated areas within the AHN privacy program.  A Director must be knowledgeable in state and federal privacy laws related to privacy, security, and identity theft, as well as federal and state agency positions and reporting requirements, including the Office for Civil Rights and the state Attorney General's Office.  A Director in Corporate Privacy is responsible for risk analysis, incident investigation and remediation, education and training, auditing and program development and assessment.  S/he must have strong written and oral communication skills with both internal clients and external parties, strong project management and organization skills, be an effective and articulate presenter, be able to handle multiple demands and deadlines, be innovative and strategic, be able to be both detail-oriented and expansive, and be able to work effectively, professionally, and collaboratively in a group and with other teams.  While s/he may be assigned a designated area of organizational responsibility, s/he must be able to operate at a system-wide level and support the Privacy Program in all settings.  Position interacts substantially with IS Security, Audit Services, Risk Management, Human Resources, Compliance, Office of General Counsel, Health Information Management, and Administration.   

Education, Training, and Experience

Graduation from an accredited four-year institution
Three years- of experience in health care is required, with at least 1 year of working with privacy and/or security issues. 
Extensive experience in presenting, communicating, and writing is required. 
Experience working with other departments on projects is required. Understanding of AHN is ideal. 
Must have advanced knowledge and experience in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
