Overview

Job Summary

Responsible for planning, organizing and directing Atrium Health Foundation development and fundraising efforts to advance selected Atrium Health facilities, departments, research, patient care, education and programmatic initiatives. Seeks leadership annual and major gifts from individuals, corporations and foundations.

Essential Functions

  • Leads, plans, initiates and implements the day-to-day development and fundraising efforts supporting a specific department or selected areas within Atrium Health, such as Levine Cancer Institute, Carolinas Rehabilitation, Levine Children’s Hospital and/or Sanger Heart & Vascular Institute.
  • Identifies, qualifies, cultivates, solicits and stewards a portfolio of prospects and donors, including sponsors, partners, grateful patients and families, community members and friends of the Foundation who have demonstrated an interest in supporting Atrium Health.
  • Maintains an active schedule of qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship calls to donors and new prospects; develops strategies for increasing leadership annual, major and principal gift activity; and participates in developing and maintaining an organized record of general and tailored proposals and presentations to be utilized in leadership annual and major gift solicitation.
  • Meets and partners with physicians to identify philanthropic needs as well as grateful patient prospects and works closely with teammates to coordinate prospect management activity and timely communication.
  • Responsible for overall management, mentorship and leadership of the specific department team who are planning, organizing and implementing development activities and annual giving programs as consistent with the goals and objectives of Atrium Health Foundation.
  • Manages, diversifies and grows volunteer fundraising boards and related development opportunities for long-term fundraising efforts in support of a specific department or selected areas within Atrium Health. 
  • Oversees annual budgets for development and fundraising endeavors for a specific department or selected areas within Atrium Health and works with AHF Senior Vice Presidents and Assistant Vice Presidents for Development in setting and achieving annual goals for a specific department or selected areas.
  • Works with AHF financial management in overseeing the receipt, documentation and acknowledgement of all related contributions.
  • Simultaneously conducts and/or oversees ongoing fund development and advancement activities involving several projects and assignments while keeping all moving forward in line with Foundation goals and objectives.

Marginal Functions:
Participates in the planning of Atrium Health Foundation development activities as requested.

Physical Requirements:

  • Lifting and moving items weighing up to twenty pounds related to events, etc.
  • Ability to drive an automobile.

Education, Training, and Experience:

  • Bachelor's level college degree required. CFRE preferred.
  • A high degree of professional fund development and advancement experience required.  Five to ten years professional fund development and advancement experience is preferred.
