Overview

Job Summary

Atrium Health is seeking applicants for our 12-14 week summer internship program to provide assistance to the Information and Analytic Services department on a full-time basis.   As an intern, you will work with Clinical Informatics Coordinators and Chief Nursing Informatics Officer in supporting a large scale, electronic medical record conversion project, which includes proctoring virtual training classes, gathering feedback and questions, and developing follow-up educational information for end-users.  Additionally, you’ll assist with technology testing of safety buttons, located throughout all patient care areas in the organization and may be given other duties as assigned.    

In this role, you’ll get to see all areas of the healthcare system, learn about different roles and responsibilities of care providers, and understand the importance of the IAS department in supporting patients and clinicians. It’s a great way to see if a healthcare is the next career path for you! 

These are full-time positions that require work on-site at one of Atrium's facilities in the Charlotte metro area. Applicants must be able to start no later than June 1, 2021.
 

Essential Functions

  • Performs duties including patient and family visits, delivery of support services, studies, investigations, research projects, and other assignments.
  • Provides administrative coverage of the office such as answering phone and maintaining computer data. Types documents such as letters and creates spreadsheets and presentations.
  • Assists with research projects, data analysis, and/or creating various reports. Assists with entering data and filing.
  • Communicates verbally and in writing with all levels within the System and with the public.

Physical Requirements

Work requires walking, sitting, lifting and reaching overhead. Must be able to lift a minimum of 10 pounds, shoulder height. Must be able to push patients in wheelchairs or supplies on a rolling cart. Intact sense of sight and hearing is required. Responsible for working in a safe manner.

Education, Experience and Certifications

High School, Undergraduate, Master's or Postgraduate enrollment required. Excellent planning, prioritizing, oral/written communication, interpersonal, problem solving, and team skills required. Ability to work collaboratively as a team member and ability to respond creatively to a rapidly changing environment required. Computer skills required.
