Overview

Formulate and apply mathematical modeling and other optimizing methods to develop and interpret information that assists Navicent management with decision making and policy formulation. Duties include: collect and analyze data, maintain results, and assist with preparation of reports to support decision-making and continuous improvement; translate data into meaningful information, make conclusions, and shape work at the department level; work with project stakeholders to identify resources, mitigate risks, resolve issues and provide key performance indicators and project status; collaborate with process owners to track and report results from improvement efforts; solve complex problems from root cause analysis to solution development through formal methodology; act as an internal consultant to lead, define, and develop continuous improvement activities; drive and track projects to successful completion develop compelling business cases to drive buy-in and adoption of solutions; document and institutionalize the use of controls, metrics, reporting and scorecards to ensure lasting project benefits and behavior change; leverage best practices across the Enterprise; assist with planning, monitoring, mentoring and managing the execution of operational and process improvement initiatives that drive strategically aligned organizational results; oversee daily activities of performance improvement staff, training and mentoring others throughout the organization in lean continuous improvement philosophy; prioritize, select, and charter high-impact projects in conjunction with Executive Leadership; lead activities that provide more efficient and streamlined workflow at all levels in the healthcare system environment; align roadmaps of future strategic processes or systems-based business metrics or market trends; develop long-term plans to bring initiatives to fruition; and support the development of Performance Improvement Office infrastructure, such as lean tools and methods for lean education and promotion of lean thinking and systems engineering throughout the organization.

Minimum Requirements: Master’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Operations Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Management Information Systems, and two (2) years of work experience involving each of the following: healthcare system operations, analytics, or process improvement; statistical analysis of medium to large data sets; leading and/or facilitating medium to large scale projects across the organization using operational excellence framework and continuous improvement methodologies, such as lean, six sigma, kaizen, A3/DMAIC, or PDSA; leading and/or facilitating projects that require evaluating and implementing engineering solutions to healthcare challenges, such as optimizing cost of care delivery, staffing to workload, reducing Hospital Length of Stay, scheduling optimization, improving resource utilization, reducing delays and improving patient flow, evaluating alternative care team staffing models, evaluating alternative payment models, evaluating/designing care processes or pathways, improving patient and staff satisfaction, and improving quality and safety outcomes; collaborating with cross-functional teams and leaders to drive process improvement efforts that align with business objectives; conducting in-depth analyses of medical practices to classify existing patient populations into separate groups based on findings from data, staff interviews, observations, and process mapping; applying project management skills, including change management concepts, to drive projects; utilizing data to formulate recommendations to improve patient flow and care processes, reduce patient waiting times, and provider burnout; development of decision matrices and algorithms to identify and implement innovative care delivery models for specialty care practices; and conducting gap assessments and analysis of Electronic Health Record (EHR) data to identify process improvement opportunities to drive operational efficiencies.
