This position is occupied by board certified Nurse Practitioners and/or Physician Assistants who are trained and work under the direct supervision of Gastroenterologists working for Atrium Health Gastroenterology and Hepatology Service Line. The provider in this position will perform in person patient evaluations and medication management for adult patients over the age of 18 throughout the lifespan in the ED, hospital, and clinic settings. The GI APP is responsible for evaluating, stabilizing, and treating patients with acute and chronic gastrointestinal diseases. This may include, but is not limited to, patients experiencing acute and chronic gastrointestinal and liver diseases and conditions. The GI APP will also help with insertion, change, and removal of percutaneous gastrostomy feeding tubes.
Essential Functions
Education, Experience and Certifications
Must have or be eligible for a DEA license. Approved to practice as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the state one works. Eligible for prescriptive authority application through the Board of Nursing or Medical Board in NC required. BLS for Healthcare Provider from AHA required with expiration date greater than 90 days from date of beginning practice. Demonstrates appropriate critical thinking, interpersonal skills, and the ability to prioritize and make proactive decisions.
