The Short Stay Medical Observation Unit (3K) provides patient centered care to a diverse population of adult patients while in observation status. 3K is designed to provide high-quality, personalized care for patients who require evaluation and clinically appropriate services and treatment for a short period of time before a decision can be made to whether patients will require further hospital services on an inpatient basis or are able to be discharged home. Some of the common conditions that require observation include, but not limited to, chest pain, shortness of breath, TIA, dehydration, asthma, abdominal pain, kidney stones, transfusions, and minor infections. Considered a frontline and fast paced unit, our staff closely monitors the conditions of our patients and streamlines their testing and treatment to expedite discharge at any time of the day or night. Our nurses provide professional nursing care through assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation in accordance with hospital policies and procedures under the supervision of leadership. Our nurses practice according to the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses.
Job Summary
The RN Clinical Nurse I provides professional nursing care through skillful assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation in accordance with facility or department policies procedures, and/or protocols under the supervision of the nursing leader. Assists in maintaining a safe work environment and performs all related job responsibilities in a safe manner. Maintains clinical and professional competency as appropriate to the population of patients served.
