Overview

This position is eligible for a sign-on bonus!  Registered Respiratory Therapists are eligible for a $10,000 sign-on bonus with a 3-year commitment for full time and some part-time positions.  
 

Job Summary

Coordinates and delegates departmental functions so that all respiratory employees are educated and compliant with ace modules, licensure and yearly competencies. Keeps abreast of all changes relevant to Cerner and will serve on the SNAAP committee and provide input as applicable. Acts as key person in new employee departmental education and works with the director in the health literacy collaborative by researching the relationship of functional health literacy to patients' knowledge of their chronic disease.



Essential Functions

  • Coordinates department activities and programs related Cemer and electronic documentation, is proficient with the hospital computer system and its interface with the Respiratory Care Department.
  • Provides support and oversight for department participation in patient discharge planning to reduce disparities in self-management, therefore reducing re-admissions for patients with COPD.
  • Provides support and assistance for various department meetings.
  • Works with physicians to ensure a smooth transition into Pulmonary Rehab post discharge.
  • Coordinates various other business related Department activities to include but not limited to ACE modules, PPD testing, Travel, Risk Management, HIPPA, Privacy, Corporate Compliance, Safety Programs and Peer Interview Program.

     

Physical Requirements
Works in office environment. Sitting for extended periods of time. Writing and use of a computer is a significant pan of daily activities. Walking.



Education, Experience and Certifications

Licensed as a Respiratory Care Provider by the North Carolina Respiratory Care Board required. Registered as a RRT through the National Board for Respiratory Care required. Associates Degree in Respiratory Therapy and 2 years of critical care experience in an acute care facility or a RRT equivalent with a minimum of 4 years of critical care experience in an acute care facility is required. Bachelor's preferred. Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider from AHA is required. Advanced certification per facility.
