Overview

Job Summary

Performs laboratory research with minimal supervision. Assists in the design and development of experiments, including the development of new methodologies. Directs all aspects of the biochemical laboratory environment. Assists in the analyses and preparation of data for publication and presentation, and provides support to primary investigators.



Essential Functions
 

  • Oversees and directs all aspects of chemical analyses required in the department, including basic science and clinical projects.
  • Performs measurements using radioisotopes.
  • Assists other laboratory staff with the completion of analytical procedures.
  • Teaches theoretical and practical aspects of chemical analyses to other staff members.
  • Oversees the laboratory environment, such as, safety procedures, record logs, ordering of supplies.
  • Teaches others how to use equipment, and schedules the use of the equipment to complete experiments.
  • Establishes and develops new methodologies for chemical analyses.

 

Physical Requirements
Will be exposed to chemical solutions. Works in a laboratory environment and interacts with people at many professional/technical levels.



Education, Experience and Certifications
 

Bachelor's Degree required. Master's Degree preferred. 3 years of experience in related scientific field preferred. Ability to calculate and formulate chemical solutions, experience with pertinent equipment.
