Overview

Sanger Heart & Vascular Institute, a part of Atrium Health, is looking for a Cardiology Acute Care NP or PA to join our team. This role is an autonomous part of our team-based care model on our Inpatient General Cardiology Service at Atrium Health- Mercy, a facility of Carolinas Medical Center.

 

The Mercy Cardiology Service is exclusively staffed by APPs, with remote cardiology physician supervision. The service is consult only.

 

Our ideal candidate is highly motivated with superb communication and organization skills with a commitment to provide quality care to the patients we serve in the Greater Charlotte community. 

 

The APP will be part of a broader team of specialized cardiology MDs and APPs. The APP will perform daily rounding, new consults, order appropriate laboratory studies and other diagnostic studies, and formulate assessments and plans independently. The APP should be competent in taking medical histories, assessing medical conditions, and interpreting medical findings.  The APP should be able to implement effective communication skills with both patients and colleagues that demonstrate a commitment to consistently provide an excellent patient experience for every patient. The APP must maintain quality assurance and quality control standards.

 

CARDIOLOGY AGACNP or PA:

 

  • Responsible for daily rounding as well as triaging and completing new inpatient consults. 
  • Evaluate, diagnose, and treat common cardiac conditions to both new patients in the Emergency Department and established patients on the medical and surgical services. 
  • Order and facilitate diagnostic studies, including but not limited to echocardiograms, ECGs, and stress tests, as well as appropriate laboratory studies.
  • Explain necessity, preparation, risks and benefits of scheduled diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to the patient and family.
  • Document efficiently, thoroughly, and thoughtfully.
  • Recognize emergency situations and respond appropriately.
  • Coordinate appropriate transfers to facilitate higher level of care.
  • Participate in evaluations with the primary supervising physician as directed by State laws.
  • Maintain ACLS and BLS certification as well as all licenses and certifications as mandated by the Hospital Credentialing Committee.
  • Exhibit respect for others by displaying a positive, courteous attitude at all times.
  • Participate in staff meetings, in-services, and continuing education for job-related growth.

 

Shifts: DAY SHIFT; 7am-12pm, Mon-Fri. No holidays, nights, or weekends required.

 

Position Qualifications:

 

Graduation from an accredited NP or PA program. Current license to practice as a NP or PA in North Carolina. Current prescriptive privileges and DEA license required. BLS/ACLS Certified. 

Nurse practitioners are required to have Acute Care Certification.

Physician Assistants with certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants required. 

1+ years of experience as a provider required; experience in Cardiology preferred.
