Job Summary:

Under administrative supervision, responsible for determining the dietary requirements, and overseeing food preparation, distribution, and service for specific patients.

What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Foods & Nutrition or related field of study. 
  • One year of relevant experience in dietetics and nutrition. 
  • Professional registration by the American Dietetic Association. 
  • Knowledge of dietetics, food values, and kitchen practices. 
  • Supervisory ability

What You'll Do:

  • Plan and coordinate the written diet requirements for specific patients; judge the quality of food products.
  • Interview patients and/or their family regarding the nutritional history of the patient; counsel and teach diet therapy and nutrition to patients; monitor the ongoing nutritional status of patients. 
  • Plan, supervise and assist with the work of dietary assistants and cooks. 
  • Confer with faculty heads concerning efficacy of special diets. 
  • Prepare and maintain dietary records and reports. 
  • Stay informed on the trends in the field of dietetics; provide education on dietetics to students, nurses and other allied health staff. 
  • Purchase food supplies for department; recommend purchase of kitchen equipment; oversee maintenance of equipment as necessary. 
  • May participate in research projects in nutrition or with a nutrition component. 
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
