Education/Experience/Certifications to Qualify: 

  • Bachelor's degree and successful completion of a National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Science (NAACLS) Medical Technologist program, five years' clinical lab experience;
  • Or two years' clinical lab experience with Medical Lab Tech (MLT) certification
  • Previous experience as Medical Technologist preferred
  • Medical Technologist (MT) ASCP certification required

Essential Functions: 

  • Performs and provides accurate laboratory test results on human patients.
  • Prepares and issues blood components for patient transfusions.
  • Assists in the collection and transport of patient samples from the clinics to laboratory sections.
  • Handles hazardous materials in accordance with regulations to ensure safe working environment.
  • Requisitions and maintains inventory of supplies, materials, and equipment as needed for laboratory operations.
  • Supervises, trains, and reviews the work of students and lower level technicians engaged in clinical laboratory work.
  • Operates complex specialized laboratory instruments; instructs other personnel in the use and operations of these instruments.
  • Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
