Overview

Sonographer opportunity to work 32 hours per week opportunity to work weekday afternoon/eveninsg from 3pm-11pm and rotating the days of the week, at Lexington Medical Center in Lexington, NC.

Job Summary:  

The Sonographer I effectively and efficiently performs age appropriate ultrasound examinations with proficient use of equipment to obtain diagnostic images.

 Education/Experience: 

  • Graduate of an American Medical Association approved School of Radiologic Technology, AMA approved ultrasound course, or CMA accredited program in Diagnostic ultrasound. 
  • One year experience in abdomen, pediatric and vascular ultrasound preferred.

 Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration: 

  • Valid registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and/or American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Technologist (ARRT-S) or Registry eligible in Abdomen (AB).  
  • Vascular certification through ARDMS will be accepted with intent to acquire abdominal (ARDMS).  
  • Certified in basic Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation.

 Essential Functions:

  1. Adheres to the general hospital standards to promote a cooperative work environment by utilizing communication skills, interpersonal relationships and team building. 
  2. Follows hospital and departmental policies and procedures. 
  3.  Assumes responsibility for keeping informed about changes in policies and procedures. 
  4. Participates in departmental in-service and educational offerings. 
  5. Contributes to the overall quality of services.
  6. Performs or assists in performing quality ultrasound examinations in a timely and efficient manner, ensuring consistent workflow and high level of productivity.
  7. Maintains coordination of activities with others to accomplish work objectives.
  8. Provides accurate data and documentation of information for departmental/patient records.
  9. Ensures readiness of equipment and supplies to perform procedures.
  10. Provides on-call back-up for 2nd, 3rd and weekend shift sonographer in event of an illness/vacation. 
  11. Recognizes and reacts appropriately to potential emergency situations. 
  12. Rotates to multiple locations; CCC, Urology, Main inpatient department and pediatrics based on departmental needs. 
  13. Participates in educational activities to enhance patient care and quality of services provided.
  14. Ensures age/developmentally appropriate patient care is provided in accordance with Age-Specific Care Guidelines for the specific age groups served to ensure patient’s needs are met.
