Overview

Job Summary

Provides a full range of differential diagnostic and rehabilitative audiologic services to patients of all ages who have peripheral hearing loss or central auditory disorder.

Evaluates, plans, directs, and administers programs of Audiology upon referral by the physician. Coordinates the management of adult and pediatric auditory and vestibular disorders.

Essential Functions
 

  • Develops and implements a plan of care to meet patient needs, to include planning and utilization of available resources.
  • Demonstrates clinical reasoning, coupled with clinical skills to conduct accurate clinical assessments and perform patient care activities; evaluates effectiveness of interventions, identifies and priorities patient strengths, needs and priorities.
  • Provides leadership support.

Physical Requirements
 

Requires hearing (corrected) adequate for oral/aural communication. Requires vision (corrected) adequate for reading. Requires intelligible speech and normal language/cognitive skills. Requires ability to push patients in a wheelchair or stretchers. Requires lifting of patients, equipment, or supplies. Required to lift up to 20 pounds frequently, up to 50 pounds occasionally, and up to 100 pounds infrequently. Requires sitting, standing, and walking. Requires occasional stair climbing, kneeling, twisting, and bending. Requires occasional crouching, crawling and reaching overhead. Requires ability to transfer patients. Required to demonstrate any appropriate exercise and activities to patients/caregivers. Possible exposure to hazardous chemicals, blood, and body fluids.



Education, Experience and Certifications
 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: AuD or PhD in Audiology required, unless a Master's degree in Audiology was received prior to 2012.One year supervised clinical experience required.Experience in field of Pediatric Audiology preferred.  

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, and/or REGISTRATION: Current license in Audiology issued by the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Speech and Language Pathologists and Audiologists.Eligible for Board Certified in Audiology (ABA Certification) or Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology.Current hearing aid dispensing license issued by NC Hearing Aid Dealers and Fitters Board required with Master level degree.
