Position Highlights:
- Shift Schedule: (Full Time 40 hours/week) Monday-Friday; 8am-5pm
- Department: Infectious Disease
- Location: 204 Jefferson St. #102, Wilkesboro, NC

What You’ll Need:
- High School Diploma or GED; Associate’s Degree in Medical Assisting preferred.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) Provider certification from American Heart Association and American Red Cross
- 1 yrs years of experience as CMA/RMA
- Teammate can become a CMA II, without 5 years of experience,
- Must be in good standing within department, with performance rating of meets/exceeds
expectations in their last performance review with no CFIP within six months.
Must have a CMA or RMA by one of the following National Organizations REQUIRED:
- CMA from American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
- CCMA from National Health career Association (NHA)
- NCMA from National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
- RMA from American Medical Technologists (AMT).
- RMA from American Allied Health
- NCMSMA from National Healthcare Worker’s Association (NHCWA)
- NRCMA from National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP)
- NRMA from National Registry of Medical Assistants (NRMA)
- Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition and Stabilization (PEARS) may be required within one year in select areas
How You’ll Impact Patient care:
As a CMA II, your job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Complies with the Medical Center mission, vision, and values as well as the philosophy of the Department of Nursing and Service line standards in caring for patients.
- Complies with all essential duties of the Credentialed Medical Assistant.
- Must be in good standing as a CMA/RMA, with performance rating of meets or exceeds expectation in the last performance review with no CFIP within the last six months.
- Demonstrated professional practice advancement through one of the following: Professional Practice/Shared Governance model participation through committees, Designated Preceptor for new MAs on unit, Safety Coach, POCT super user, EPIC super user, Six Sigma or other quality certification (such as Specialty Certified Medical Assistant (SCMA) Certificate Program, Phlebotomy competency, BLS/AED instructor, SPICE or OSHA/IP certificate holder, Vaccine Coordinator for unit, or Synagis coordinator for unit.
- Achieves at least 6 points from the following areas:
- Prepare and assist with in-office procedures (examples: IUD insertion, colposcopy, LEEP, cystoscopy, vasectomy, biopsy, rhinoscopy, US guided procedures, Lumbar punctures, paracentesis, etc.).
- Sample Medication management
- Management of processes (one point per process): Telehealth/Video encounters, Surgery scheduling, medication ordering, supply ordering, schedule management, sterile supply management, Prior Authorizations, Referral management, Infusion scheduling & coordination, Managing DME (durable medical equipment); Uploading patient physiologic data.
- Disease specific or age specific screening tools: Developmental pediatrics, nutritional assessments, MOCA, memory screenings for geriatrics.
- In-basket message management routinely.
- High Level disinfection: Instrument cleaning and scope processing
- Phlebotomy, capillary samples, heel sticks.
- Insertion/removal/management of urinary control devices: indwelling catheter, In & Out, Bladder scan, Uroflow/PVR.
- Wound Care: Suture/Staple removal, Sterile dressing, Foot Exam.
- Local anesthetic administration** (competency in specific locations—approved by the CNO).
- Multispecialty – holds competency to float to 2 or more specialties. This means to fully function in all those areas, not just floating for coverage.
- Cross-trained for front desk activities fully.
- Respiratory functions: Spirometry, peak flow, nebulizer, pulmonary function tests.
- Fibroscan
- Ear lavage
- Urine drug screens
- Immunizations or intradermal injections.
- EKG, Ziopatch
- Vision Screening: Snellen charts, Titmus exam, stereopsis, color blind testing OR Hearing screening: audiometry, Tympanometry, Otoacoustic emissions.
- Performs other related duties incidental to work described herein.
