Overview

The Electronic Health Record (EHR) is the transactional core of care provided to patients. The ability to leverage data entered into the EHR enables organizations to provide better quality care at a better value. The central team’s ability to both technically extract requested data from various sources and support requestors in identifying data needs is a key component to an EHR team; the extent to which this is seamlessly operationalized is a key measure of EHR implementation success. The Manager of EHR Intelligence leads a team of technical, clinical, and business workflow experts in ensuring that EHR data is translated into information that drives both front-line care as well as organizational strategic direction. This role is a highly visible position and is accountable in ensuring technical alignment of resources and tools to clinical/business needs. The Manager of EHR Intelligence manages a team of experts that work to enable the optimization of EHR reporting tools. Using workflow and subject matter expertise, this role ensures that EHR data is realized as an organizational asset.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Helps to develop and operationalize an EHR data strategy that ensures a system approach to fulfilling front line and system information needs. Identifies customer requirements, assesses impacts to other data and systems, considers available technologies, compares costs, and benefits, and recommends solutions.
  • Guides and trains a team of clinical, workflow, data and technical staff ensuring successful achievement of accountability and organizational imperatives.
  • Responsible for the implementation and delivery of data & analytics tools across the system.
  • Manages and provides support for changes/enhancements by assigning projects to appropriate personnel ensuring that staff has adequate training and understanding of project context within Advocate Health, ensuring that proper analysis, testing, and user consultation procedures are followed and that projects are executed within cost and time constraints to meet requirements.
  • Collaborate on a system wide EHR data and reporting tool training approach to front-line users of the HER.
  • Management and adherence to a robust Data Governance process and structure. Identifies appropriate governance issues and works with Data & Analytics leadership to develop, implement, and support a systemwide EHR data governance strategy at all levels of the organization.
  • Build professional skills by maintaining awareness of health care environment, clinical information systems technology, evidence-based practice, leadership and analytics industry trends and organizational standards.
  • Performs human resources responsibilities for staff which include interviewing and selection of new employees, promotions, staff development, performance evaluations, compensation changes, resolution of employee concerns, corrective actions, terminations, and overall employee morale.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

License/Registration/Certification:  Relevant Epic Certification or Accreditation in the first 6 months

Level of Education:  Bachelor's degree in business, Computer Science, or Health related field

Years of Experience:  5 years in clinical data management and/or Clinical IS, and service delivery environment.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSA)

  • Excellent presentation and writing skills.
  • Experience with clinical and/or administrative workflow in both practice and within the EHR.
  • Ability to build collaborative working relationships.
  • Demonstrated, self-directed, result oriented and creative approach to projects.
  • Knowledge of Quality and Performance Improvement principles.
  • Proven project management skills and ability to problem solve.
  • Effective leadership skills.
  • Significant aptitude and expertise in EHR reporting and business intelligence.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

  • This position requires travel, therefore, will be exposed to weather and road conditions.
  • Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
  • Exposed to a normal office environment.

Base Pay: $120,328.00 - 180,544.00 annually

Base compensation listed within the listed pay range based on factors such as qualifications, skills, relevant experience, and/or training
Premium pay such as shift, on call, and more based on a teammate's job
Incentive pay for select positions
Opportunity for annual increases based on performance
