JOB SUMMARY

Under departmental direction and in coordination with the Principal Investigator of the iGROOVE study, performs a variety of duties involved in research participant interviewing and history gathering including the administration and scoring of standardized psychological and neuropsychological tests, under the direct supervision of a doctoral level licensed psychologist. Also incorporates behavioral observations and provides this feedback to the supervising psychologist.  Performs additional assessments including conducting study visits according to protocol to collect, compile and submit data, administer participant questionnaires, assess physical function utilizing standardized approved batteries and attend team meetings as scheduled.  Ability to manage the daily workload of a study with increased complexity. 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in psychology or related field with 12 hours psychology and one year of experience in psychological or educational testing in a psychological practice or academic setting. 

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, and/or REGISTRATION

Must complete the CITI certification for Human Subject Research if not already completed.  All additional required WakeOne training for research coordinators.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Administers and scores various neuropsychological and psychological tests, congruent with Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) codes allowing involvement of a psychological technician. Assists the supervising neuropsychologist/psychologist by administering test and other measures to patients to assess factors such as intellectual functioning, presence and extent of organic involvement, general cognition, personality assessment and psychopathy. 
  2.  Schedules time and place for test administrations; keeps neuropsychologist/psychologist/psychologist informed of situations that might delay and/or interfere with testing procedures; scores tests using appropriate reference tables and draft score profiles. Schedules additional study visits as required. 
  3.  Observes participants before, during and after testing, recording behavioral observations. Reports to neuropsychologist/psychologist/psychologist any information that may affect the validity and significance of test results. Works collaboratively with other staff and reports any testing issues to supervising psychologist. 
  4.  Documents and records behavioral observations and patient performance during testing. 
  5.  Maintains interface with neuropsychologist/psychologist physicians and related medical personnel; meets regularly with stud staff to maintain smooth and efficient visit timelines.
  6.  Assists neuropsychologist/psychologist in collecting accurate data for various research projects by administering test batteries to selected subjects at designated intervals. 
  7.  Ensures all paperwork is prepared prior to participant visit, exhibits compliance with all state and federal laws governing privacy of medical records and health information.
  8.  Maintains, organize, and orders testing materials and equipment to ensure adequate inventory is always on hand.
  9.  Other administrative and participant tasks as assigned.
  10. Works under the direction of the Study Investigator, Departmental Manager, and/or team lead with minimal supervision.
  11. Obtains informed consent from subjects following inclusion/exclusion criteria per protocol.
  12. Fulfills sponsor and institutional requirements related to reportable information including adverse events, unanticipated problems, and other information required by the sponsor protocol.
  13. Abstracts data from the medical record and completes paper and electronic case report forms, including responding to any requests for data clarification, and maintains all necessary source documents.
  14. Identifies and communicates important protocol and data management issues or problems to the supervisor in a timely manner.
  15. Follows established institutional and department policies, procedures, objectives, performance improvement, attendance, safety, environmental, and infection control guidelines, including adherence to the workplace Code of Conduct and Compliance Plan.  Practices a high level of integrity and honesty in maintaining confidentiality.
  16. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
