Job summary
The Wake Forest Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) is a part of Wake Forest School of Medicine, the Academic Core of the new Atrium Health. The new Atrium Health Enterprise is the result of the strategic combination of Atrium Health and Wake Forest Baptist Health. More specifically, the CTSI is a unified research organization designed to provide innovative, efficient, and sustainable infrastructure that accelerates the translation of discoveries to improve health. The CTSI supports faculty and staff conducting research at the new Atrium Health Enterprise through the provision of creative tools and services while maintaining the highest standards for conducting safe and ethical research. The position is with the Research Education and Training team of the Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) in the Wake Forest University School of Medicine. This is a hybrid position, that reports to the Translational Workforce Development program manager.
Specifically, the Project Manager I, under administrative review, performs management level work directed toward the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of research-related educational programs. This motivated, organized, and collaborative teammate will use their judgment and discretion in performing the assigned duties and responsibilities related to new and existing projects. This person will be responsible for working with CTSI team members, faculty, research staff and administrative leaders to promote the success of activities that support the academic core of the new Atrium Health. This will be achieved by monitoring progress, improving systems, and addressing issues as they arise.
Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree required.
(3) Three years of relevant experience in project management required.
Master’s degree in relevant field such as education or research/healthcare administration with previous project management experience beyond three years preferred.
Essential Functions:
Assumes major responsibility for the successful and timely completion of complex projects including planning, development, implementation, and evaluation.
Plans, coordinates, and facilitates educational programs for members of the research community.
Translates planning and design decisions into concrete activities and tasks for project implementation and sets priorities for project implementation.
Manages the preparation of progress reports and quality control monitoring.
Participates in the analysis of program data and the writing of progress reports for funders and stakeholder groups.
Directs the development and preparation of data collection forms, project advertisements, and other documents required for project implementation and evaluation. Directs the development of computerized methods for monitoring and reporting on team deliverables.
Ensures that all aspects of the following are completed:
Educational programs are conducted in accordance with grant requirements
Requirements and expectations of the Medical School, the University, and the Enterprise are complied with, relative to the educational program
Technical requirements of the funding agency are met, including reporting requirements
Represents the CTSI Translational Workforce Development Program to all related community agencies, organizations, and research community members across the enterprise, serving as the program’s liaison, spokesperson, and representative.
Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
Required skills/qualifications:
Ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and effectively plan, develop, implement, and evaluate programs/projects
Skilled problem solver who is a self-starter and can work independently
Strong interpersonal skills to effectively build relationships across departments and organizations
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
Strong skills in computer spreadsheet systems, presentation packages, online facilitation tools, Learning Management systems, and content production/editing tools
Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Demonstrates knowledge of instructional design and adult educational principles
Desired experience:
Experience of knowledge of user experience/human-centered design principles is desirable
Experience teaching online
Previous experience in a research, higher education and healthcare setting
Facility with NIH grant administration
Experience with REDCap or other research and project management software or tools
Knowledge of business communications or recruiting
Work environment:
Clean, comfortable, office environment. Note that this is currently a hybrid position with an in-person requirement at the Winston-Salem, NC location.
