Type: Temporary Position 

The Dean’s Office at the Wake Forest University School of Medicine is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented undergraduate student to join our team as a Philanthropy Intern. This internship offers a comprehensive learning experience to gain hands-on experience in philanthropy strategy, data management, and event planning  within the Dean’s Office senior leadership team.  The position offers exposure to all aspects of operations within the Dean’s Office.  The successful candidate will work closely with leaders and teammates to support various initiatives within the School of Medicine.  The position will be an 8-12 week position, 20 hours a week, as agreed upon prior to start of employment.   

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Current undergraduate students in any discipline will be considered, but preference will be given to students who are studying or have experience in business, education, research, public health, and/or healthcare.
  • Students in any year will be considered, but preference will be given to sophomores and juniors.
  • Background and interest in philanthropy, administration, operations, healthcare, or higher education preferred.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

  • Assist with day-to-day philanthropy-related tasks and projects within the Dean’s Office.
  • Develop and manage an electronic database to organize and maintain prospect contact information efficiently."Support planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of donor engagement and fundraising initiatives.
  • Communicate effectively with teammates and stakeholders, providing updates, seeking feedback, and addressing inquiries related to philanthropy projects.
  • Collaborate with teammates on data collection, analysis, and presentation for ongoing projects and initiatives.
  • Assist in event planning and logistics for donor appreciation and fundraising events.
  • Support the preparation of correspondence, reports, and impact summaries.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall goals of the Dean’s Office.

 

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience creating and maintaining basic data sets and surveys in Excel, Redcap, Qualtrics, and/or other programs. 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
