Data Collector, Gerontology

Overview

Position Summary:

Under general supervision, performs duties involved in the collection and documentation of data in support of research and information gathering activities. 

Education/Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Social Science, Education, or Public Health; or an equivalent combination of experience and education including training in research methodology, computerized data processing and/or interviewing techniques.

Additional Desirable Experience:

• Experience working with older adults.
• Fluency in Spanish is beneficial.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Experience in clinical research including interviewing and data collection procedures
• Excellent communication skills, oral and written
• Strong interpersonal skills; capable of relating to individuals at all levels
• Must understand and maintain discretion and confidentiality related to all aspects of the study
• Strong ability to interact with participants over the telephone
• Must have excellent organizational skills, be self-directed and persistent

Salary Range from $22.50/hr

Essential Functions:

1. Performs duties involved in the collection and documentation of multiple forms of data.
2. Participates in all aspects of research and evaluation activities. 
3. Complete data entry and perform follow-up activities as needed.
4. Establishes and coordinates interview schedules.
5. Conducts telephone interviews with participants and family members.
6. Assists participants in completing questionnaires and answers questions as required.
7. Attends regular study staff meetings.
8. Comply with ethical standards for research involving human subjects.
9. Performs other duties incidental to the work described herein.
