Hospitalist PRN Clinical Adjunct Faculty

Overview

We are seeking exceptional, BE/BC career Hospitalists to join our expanding team at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist in a PRN capacity. 

• Must be MD/DO
• Three years Internal Medicine Residency required
• North Carolina licensure or eligible
• Physicians are appointed as adjunct clinical faculty at Wake Forest University School of Medicine
• Schedule:  PRN, across five AHWFB locations

1. In addition to their core expertise managing the clinical problems of acutely ill, hospitalized patients, hospitalist is responsible for:
2. Admitting adult patients with medical problems for hospital stay.
3. Giving prompt and complete attention to all patient care needs including diagnosis, treatment, and the performance of medical procedures (within their scope of practice).
4. Collaborating, communicating, and coordinating with all physicians from other sub-specialties and health care personnel caring for hospitalized patients.
5. Attending and providing inpatient medicine consults and post-operative care to other medical and surgical specialties.
6. Employing quality and processing improvement techniques.
7. Conducting discharge planning and discharging patients.
8. Safely transitioning patient care within the hospital, and from the hospital to the community, which may include oversight of care in post-acute care facilities.
9. Efficiently using hospital and health care resources.
10. Training or supervising medical students, residents, and other health care professionals.
11. Responding to and managing any Rapid Responses or Codes
12. Assessing patients and developing appropriate plans as needed for any acute events of changes in patient status
13. Coordinating with nursing staff and responding to questions/concerns as needed
14. Providing appropriate hand-off/sign-out at the conclusion of their shift to the day team
15. Determine patients that require transfer to tertiary hospital and contacting PAL line to facilitate 
16. Supervise care of patients with hospital medicine Advanced Practice Providers as necessary.
17. Follow individual hospital policies and workflows while working shifts.
18. Complete documentation requirements and queries timely as per system policy.
19. Provide availability for at least 6 of shifts every 6 months.
