Overview
Job Summary: Analyzes procedures and problems within pharmacy automated health care systems. Reports findings and when applicable, recommends options for resolution. Provides application support and systems development for the Department of Pharmacy. Confers with professional staff to ascertain specific requirements and assists in the completion of pharmacy information systems-related programming specifications, software updates, problem resolution, and pharmacy automation vendor coordination. Assists with operational and business objectives, best pharmacy automation technology capabilities, task level resource requirements, task plans and general communications both inter- and intra-departmental to the health system. Provides on-call support for critical issues involving pharmacy information systems and pharmacy automation. Upholds the mission, vision, values, and customer service standards of Wake Forest Baptist Health.

How You’ll Impact Patient Care:
Your responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Provides a high level of technical support, both internal and external to pharmacy that supports pharmacy business functions across the health system.
- Provides on-call support for critical issues involving pharmacy information systems.
- Plans for development, testing, integration, and implementation of pharmacy information systems.
- Performs project management of ongoing pharmacy automation initiatives, i.e. Beta testing.
- System design, code development, problem resolution, vendor coordination for pharmacy automation.
- Assures that users of the pharmacy information systems have availability and can use the systems per their defined and implemented functionality.
- Evaluates requests, consults in design for new or modified computer systems, and interfaces for pharmacy automation.
- Formulates and develops plans at a high level as well as documents to achieve plans. Shares with management or peers as appropriate.
- Assists other IT teams with selection and provides technical evaluation of products/tools to ensure enterprise-wide requirements are met.
- Functions as a technical consultant for pharmacy automation to the health system.
- Works internal to pharmacy to coordinate quality improvement and quality assurance initiatives around the medication use process.
- Participates in system-wide initiatives to improve efficiency and reach institutional goals and objectives.
What You Will Need:
- Minimum requirement is a High School Diploma or GED and 5 years of IT systems management experience.
- Licensed pharmacy technician in the state of North Carolina.
Nice To Have (Not Required):
- An associate’s degree obtained from an IT related program of study in lieu of the 5 years of IT system management experience is acceptable.
- Must obtain certification within three months of hire.
