Join our team at the esteemed Brenner Children's Hospital team, a proud member of Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist. As a Unit Secretary (Full-Time, Nights) in our Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, you'll be an integral part of assisting clinical staff in our commitment to deliver advanced and compassionate care to our young patients and their families.

Supports assigned unit by performing clerical duties such as secretarial, receptionist, and other designated activities. Provides indirect care following physician and nursing orders to achieve the highest standards of age/developmentally specific care.

 

Position Highlights:

  • Shift Schedule: Full-Time-36hrs weekly, 3 (12hr) shifts weekly, Night Shift-7pm-7am
  • Department: Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)
  • Location: Brenner Children's Hospital, AHWFB, Winston-Salem, NC

What You’ll Need:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Completion of a Unit Secretary course or equivalent preferred.
  • Clerical experience preferred.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Completes clerical duties for patient scheduling, admissions, procedures, transfers, surgeries, discharges and deaths under the direction of a Registered Nurse. 
  • Handles and screens incoming calls and transmits messages as necessary.
  • Contributes to a safe, secure and therapeutic environment for patients, visitors, physicians and co- workers by following established procedures. 
  • Ensures complete, confidential, accurate, and timely communication of patient information. 
  • Completes requisitions, data entry, and nursing communication forms. 
  • Communicates to the team, co-workers, patients and family members in an effective, positive and professional manner. 
  • Takes personal responsibility and initiative for performance, professional growth and development. 
  • Conducts work in an organized, quiet, efficient manner and demonstrates ability to cope with stressful situations. 
  • Completes assigned unit responsibilities and assists other staff members in completion of their duties when time permits. 
  • Provides age/developmental appropriate assistance to patient care in accordance with Age/Developmental Specific Care Guidelines for the specific age groups served.

 

         SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Basic computer skills
