JOB SUMMARY: Provides high quality technical neurodiagnostic ultrasound services appropriate to age of patient, contributing to a positive patient outcome. Maintains cooperative working relationship with other departments and members of the medical system. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Completion of an Allied Health Training Program in Diagnostic Ultrasound resulting in an Associate?s degree, completion of a correlative Allied Health Program with successful completion of a postgraduate course in Neuroultrasound, or Bachelor's degree in a related field. One year clinical ultrasound experience preferred. LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, and/or REGISTRATION: Completion of the Registry of Vascular Technologists required or the Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography within 18 months of hire. Current CPR certification required. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Performs and/or assists in performing quality neurovascular sonography procedures. 2. Obtains appropriate data management and documentation and utilizes hospital resources appropriately. 3. Communicates in an effective manner to provide efficient and quality services with high customer satisfaction. 4. Participates in educational activities to enhance patient care and quality. 5. Performs appropriate equipment management including operations and maintenance. 6. Utilizes appropriate competencies, guidelines and environment for safe patient care. Provides and/developmental appropriate patient care in accordance with Age/Developmental Specific Care Guidelines for the specific age group served. SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to communicate on a professional level with physicians, nurses, and other ancillary professional staff when discussing neuroultrasound technology Ability to maintain good interpersonal relationships with public, patients, physicians, and other medical center staff WORK ENVIRONMENT: Clean, well-lit, comfortable environment Low noise Contact with patients under wide variety of circumstances Exposure to unpleasant elements (accidents, injuries, illness) Exposure to odorous chemicals Occasional exposure to inhalation GradeO2 Occasional exposure to bloodborne pathogens May be exposed to infections and contagious diseases Occasional pressure due to multiple calls and inquiries Required personal protective equipment: eye and face protection, gown, mask, lab coat, sterile and nonsterile gloves, shoe covers.
