Education/Experience/Certifications to Qualify: 

  • High School Diploma or GED General Studies *Required *
  • Two years of college and graduation from a NAACLS approved school of Cytotechnology preferred. 
  • ASCP *Required *Or equivalent is required 

Essential Functions: 

  • Slide Screening Screens all cytology slides resulting negative PAP smears, referring abnormal cases and all Non-GYN cases. 
  • Maintains productivity levels consistent with CLIA guidelines Guidelines Comprehension & Documentation.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of OC/QA guidelines and the decision-making process for the acceptance or rejection of patient specimens and results.
  • Accurately documents QA/QC items on all appropriate forms, logs, and computer screens. 
  • Response Responds promptly and appropriately to special requests from the Pathology Manager and the Pathologists for work outside the routine of the lab. 
  • Accurately validates the proper preparation and identification of all pathological specimens received in the department. 
  • Reviews pending worksheets and computer generated reports. 
  • Attains at least 12 contact hours of Continuing Education per year.
  • Assists with bone marrows and FNAs. 
  • Upholds a professional working relationship at all times and adheres to department rules. 
  • Practices teamwork and adheres to Standards of Behavior. 
  • Other Duties Performs other duties as assigned by management.
