Atrium Health Mercy is home to Atrium Health’s Musculoskeletal Institute Headquarters. The region's only High performing Orthopedics program ranked in the top 10 percent in the nation and is one of the largest premier orthopedic facilities. 

The APP will function in the hospital setting, in collaboration with a supervising physician. The APP will perform direct patient care including hospital rounding, Pre and Post Operative Orthopedic care, and Surgical First Assisting.  

Position Details: 

  • Expansion of Orthopedic Trauma Service at Carolinas Medical Center 
  • 100% Inpatient 
  • OR First Assist, Inpatient Rounding 
  • Collaborate with Orthopedic Trauma Surgeons and Fellows, Anesthesia, Hospitalists, and APPs
  • Monday–Friday Daytime 
  • 1:6 Call Rotation (weekday/weekend/holiday)
  • Part of academic health system working alongside learners of all levels of medical education 
  • Opportunity to lead and develop orthopedic trauma service line at Mercy Hospital 

Ideal candidate:  

  • New and Experienced APPs encouraged to apply; Acute Care certification is required for NP candidates
  • Orthopedic experience or clinical rotation preferred 
  • Flexible and able to adapt to role as service line evolves 
  • Confident in time management 
  • Able to lift and position patients with and without assistance in wards and OR.  
  • Able to work autonomously as an independent team of one, without immediate at-the-elbow support
