Advanced Practice Provider- Hand Ortho Surgery and Rehab- High Point

Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our orthopedic surgery team, specializing in hand surgery. The APP will work closely with orthopedic hand surgeons to provide comprehensive care for patients with hand and upper extremity conditions. Responsibilities include conducting patient assessments, assisting in surgeries, managing preoperative and postoperative care, and developing treatment plans.

Job Summary: Participates in team focused patient care by means of patient examinations augmented by diagnostic and therapeutic interventions in the medical and aspects of orthopedics. The clinician functions under the regulatory mandate from their respective licensing organization (North Carolina Medical Board or North Carolina Board of Nursing) with departmental specific credentialing from the institution including the ability to first assist in the operating room.

Position in High Point one on one with Upper Extremity Hand surgeon including clinical OR and call responsibilities (second call new consults)

Preferred candidates will possess:

1. Prior orthopedic experience
2. Prior OR experience
3. APP Orthopedic fellowship or residency completion
4. Excellent team, organization, communication skills and work attitude

Required:

NP candidates must have completed and current 1^st assist certification

What You’ll Do: 

HP outpatient clinic

Rotate with other APPs in weekday and weekend call with second call consult and after hour patient call responsibilities

Operating room: 1^st assist hand surgeon and other orthopedic attending’s on call rotation 

As a valued member of our healthcare team, the PA/NP will play a key role in team-focused patient care, conducting thorough examinations and evaluations in medical/surgical settings. Responsibilities include:

1. Using medical decision-making skills to determine appropriate patient care plan.
2. Collaborates with medical team when needed for effective team-based care.
3. Order and interpret laboratory studies and diagnostic procedures. Explains the necessity, preparation, nature and anticipated effects of scheduled diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to the patient.
4. Procedural skills per department or practice guidelines.
5. Opportunity to participate in basic science and clinical research projects.
6. Potential for and encouraged to precept students and/or medical learners.
7. Uphold AHWFB missions, values, and cultural commitment. 
8. Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Physician Assistant (PA) Requirements: 

• Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant Program; Master's Degree preferred
• Current North Carolina Medical Board Medical License, Certified by NCCPA
• Current American Heart Association or Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) is required to start
• Current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and Department of Public Safety (DPS) registration, for prescription writing is required to start

Nurse Practitioner (NP) Requirements:

• Graduation from accredited Nurse Practitioner Master's Program, Master’s degree or higher required
• Current North Carolina Board of Nursing Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner license
• Board certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner by AANP or ANCC
• Current American Heart Association or Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) is required to start
• Current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and Department of Public Safety (DPS) registration, for prescription writing is required to start
• First Assist Required- current and certified
