Overview

JOB SUMMARY:

The Program Coordinator works collaboratively with the leadership team to identify and coordinate the execution of strategic projects and initiatives for the Program, which encompasses the full continuum of care.  Responsible for the growth and development of the service and drives innovation across the continuum.  Serves as a champion and facilitator of process management and process improvement for the Program and coordinates these areas. The Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the education process to all involved parties. This position fosters collegiality, teamwork, and appropriate integration of services across departments to promote a harmonious work environment and exceptional experience for the patient, internal and external customers.   

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: 

  • Minimum of a BSN required.  
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a healthcare provider organization. 
  • Demonstrated Leadership/management experience required.  
  • Experience in Subspecialty, specifically in Orthopedics 

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, and/or REGISTRATION:

  • RN License in the State of North Carolina is required.  
  • CCM required 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  1. Responsible for program development for the service.   Identifies and researches innovative techniques /services and outlines the necessary steps to implement changes to expand market share.   Stays abreast of trends in the program and/or like programs to implement best practices.  Anticipates the future trends of the service and the needs of the institution/faculty and staff to manage any necessary changes. 
  2.  In collaboration with the MSK Administrative Team and the Medical Director, responsible for the implementation of operational performance improvement projects for the Program and is aligned with the overall medical center vision and values.  Ensures collaboration and integration of operations with other departmental and MSK services.  Manages identified projects associated with the service.     
  3. Serves as key operational resource for strategic planning efforts for the service.  Participates in strategic sessions and implementation of strategic plans with the Medical Director and MSK Leadership team.  Seeks excellence in financial and operational standards. 
  4. Responsible for the ongoing program management across the continuum and medical center locations, measures compliance with recognized standards of care and achieving operational efficiency, patient satisfaction, quality outcomes, and operational performance goals. Identifying and implementing patient care processes and protocols to promote appropriate utilization of resources. Works collaboratively with other departments within the medical center.   Assists the Chair, Medical Director and other MSK leaders to ensure compliance with standards. 
  5. Identifies key referral processes and referral sources; ensures maintaining regular data on referring providers.  Monitors changes in referral patterns and assists with marketing strategies to enhance referral patterns. 
  6. Effectively networks with colleagues throughout the Medical Center and referral region. Acts as a resource/liaison with medical staff, patients, families, other departments and the community. Represent the program to all related community agencies and organizations, serving as the program liaison, spokesperson and representative.  Establish external contacts where community health education services are needed.  Works collaboratively with all departments within the system to include IT, Marketing.   
  7. Participates in identifying needs, planning, developing and implementing educational programs for Staff, case managers, employers and adjusters to improve the care and processes for the injured worker. Monitors effectiveness of programs, making changes where needed.   
  8. Assists in achieving financial objectives for the program and department through budget preparation, CE requests and budget monitoring.  Actively manages financial accounts within budget. 
  9. Manages staff through recruitment, orientation, training on policies and procedures.  Supervision of key support roles within the program. 
  10. Actively participates in and/or leads assigned taskforces, teams, and committees. Participates in leadership meetings associated with the MSK service line and Departmental meetings. 
  11. Promotes and develops personal and professional growth, maintaining professional and clinical knowledge; attending continuing education and in-services as needed. Maintains professional and clinical knowledge, acting as a resource to others. 
  12. Fosters collegiality, teamwork, and appropriate integration of services across departments to promote a harmonious work environment.   
  13. Assists with MSK and Departmental leaders with additional quality initiatives as needed.
