JOB SUMMARY

The National Center for Clinical Trials (NCCT) is designed to serve as an innovative platform to revolutionize and catalyze the conduct of clinical trials−greatly accelerating the translation of scientific findings into improvements in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of disease for our communities and patients. The NCCT will offer core services for patient recruitment and enrollment, trial administration and follow-up, and to gather real world data and evidence.

The Clinical Trial Methods Center (CTMC) has been established within the Wake Forest University School of Medicine to provide the necessary tools and expertise that the NCCT will access and apply to deliver many of its core services. 

This position will be part of the Real-World Advocate DAta for Research (RADAR) team within the CTMC that focuses on the development of real-world electronic health record (EHR) longitudinal datasets, registries, the incorporation of external data, and contribution to active cohort development.

Under administrative guidance and review, the Biostatistician II collaborates in designing and monitoring biomedical research projects and assumes primary responsibility for the analysis and presentation of project data. 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Master’s Degree in biostatistics, statistics, data science, computer science or a related field or Bachelor’s degree with 3 years of experience in biostatistics.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Collaborate with biomedical investigators and assist in developing objectives, designing sampling, randomization and data collection procedures to achieve study objectives.
  2. Design tables and statistical procedures for specific projects
  3. Collaborate with clinic and other personnel, including analyst/programmers in monitoring and assessing data quality.
  4. Write statistical computer programs and review computer output for consistency and quality; analyze data and prepare tables for interim and final reports. 
  5. Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in manipulating and analyzing data using statistical and programing packages, such as SAS, R, SQL, or Python 
  • Experience in the design and analysis of large healthcare and clinical studies
  • Experience with large databases, ideally administrative claims or electronic health record data
  • Ability to organize data and communicate statistical concepts to non-statisticians
