Overview

The Academic Faculty Recruiter at Wake Forest University School of Medicine is responsible for identifying, attracting, and securing top-tier candidates for faculty, research and leadership positions across various departments. This role requires a deep understanding of the institution’s needs, the ability to build and maintain relationships with prospective leaders, and strong communication and negotiation skills. The recruiter will collaborate closely with department leads, faculty, and search committees to ensure an efficient and fair recruitment process that aligns with the institution's values and academic goals. This role is pivotal in ensuring that Wake Forest University School of Medicine attracts and secures the talent to support its academic mission and continued growth.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Talent Sourcing and Identification

  • Collaborate with department leads, faculty, and search committees to understand the specific needs and requirements for each position. 
  • Maintain a robust pipeline of qualified individuals who can fill leadership roles. 
  • Utilize various recruitment channels (networking, online platforms, conferences, etc.) to identify potential candidates. 

Candidate Assessment and Evaluation:

  • Conduct initial screenings and interviews to assess candidates’ qualifications, experience, and alignment with the institution’s values. 
  • Evaluate candidates’ leadership abilities, vision, and commitment to academic excellence. 
  • Coordinate with search committees to ensure a thorough and fair evaluation process. 

Relationship Building: 

  • Cultivate relationships with potential candidates, emphasizing the unique opportunities and benefits of joining Wake Forest University School of Medicine. 
  • Represent the institution at conferences, industry events, and professional gatherings to promote our leadership positions. 

Negotiation and Offer Management:

  • Work closely with stakeholders to develop competitive compensation packages. 
  • Facilitate negotiations with candidates, addressing salary, benefits, and other terms. 
  • Ensure a smooth transition for successful candidates, including onboarding and orientation. 

Collaboration and Communication: 

  • Collaborate with other recruiters, HR professionals, and department chairs to align recruitment efforts. 
  • Maintain clear and timely communication with candidates throughout the recruitment process.
  • Provide logistical support for recruitments, including scheduling interviews, coordinating travel and providing assistance for onsite interviews. 

 

PREFERRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS

  • Human Resources Experience: Prior experience in human resources, particularly within an academic medical center or higher education setting, is strongly preferred. Knowledge of academic recruitment and institutional dynamics is highly valued.
  • Full-Cycle Recruitment Experience: Proven experience in full-cycle recruitment, including sourcing, interviewing, and onboarding candidates, is beneficial. Experience in full-cycle recruitment for faculty positions is preferred.
  • HRIS Proficiency: Proficiency in Oracle or similar Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS) is preferred, enabling effective management of recruitment data, candidate tracking, and other HR-related tasks.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Has excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Has strong computer and customer service skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook preferred.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:  Bachelor’s Degree required. 3 years of related experience required

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, and/or REGISTRATION: HR certification (i.e., CCP, PHR, SPHR or CEBS) preferred based on role.

LOCATION REQUIREMENT: Candidates must be local, residing within a 30-mile radius of Winston-Salem, NC. This is a hybrid position, requiring both remote work and onsite presence as needed.
