Overview

PRN opportunity for a qualified Radiation Therapist to work weekdays, day shift with occasional late coverage.

JOB SUMMARY 

On an Ad Hoc bases, coordinates, plans, and administers high quality comprehensive age/disease appropriate radiotherapy, to oncology patients including neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics by utilizing equipment, computers, and established techniques to ensure positive patient experience.   Demonstrates radiation safety standards with patient and staff members is essential.

REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Associate’s degree in Radiation Therapy (Bachelor’s degree in Radiation Therapy preferred).
  • Registered in Radiation Therapy Technology by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT) or registry eligible.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider Certification

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Administers radiation therapy as planned and prescribed to ensure positive patient outcomes.
  2. Maintains simulation and treatment schedules to ensure efficient, appropriate patient care.
  3. Performs simulations to ensure optimal patient set up for delivery of prescribed radiation treatments.
  4. Administers radiation therapy as planned and prescribed to ensure positive patient outcomes.
  5. Provides/promotes patient/significant other education in order to maximize patient compliance with his/her plan of care.
  6. Takes responsibility for maintaining updated knowledge and skills.
  7. Maintains supplies and equipment to promote a positive working environment.
  8. Maintains professional and technical knowledge for staff and self.

  • Able to communicate on a professional level with the multidisciplinary radiation team
  • Organizational and analytical skills
  • Must be a team player
  • Strong computer knowledge
  • Detail oriented
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues that arise from machine malfunctions, patient set ups and patient schedules
  • Knowledge in principles, practices and procedures involved in the operation of ionizing radiographic and radiation therapy equipment
  • Knowledge of the human anatomy and proper positioning of the patient to provide treatment as prescribed
