Overview
Job Summary
Functions as a team member of the Event Medicine emergency care team and is responsible for optimal patient care delivery in the pre-hospital setting at customer venues. Responsibilities include patient care which incorporates assessment, stabilization and intervention skills working under standards and protocols approved by the Medical Director and as established by the North Carolinas Board of Nursing.
Essential Functions
- Collects data pertinent to the healthcare consumer’s health or the situation.
- Analyzes the assessment data to determine the diagnoses or issues.
- Identifies expected outcomes for a plan individualized to the healthcare consumer or the situation.
- Develops a plan that prescribes strategies and alternatives to attain expected outcomes.
- Implements the identified plan, coordinates care delivery, and employs strategies to promote health and a safe environment.
- Evaluates progress toward attainment of outcomes.
Physical Requirements
Aptitudes for work of this nature are good physical stamina, endurance and body which would not be adversely affected by having to lift, carry and balance at times in excess of 250 pounds with assistance. Work requires walking, standing, sitting, lifting, reaching, stooping, bending, pushing, and pulling. Intact sense of sight, hearing, smell, and touch. Normal eye-hand coordination and finger dexterity to give injections, medication, and intravenous therapy. Critical thinking and ability to concentrate. Must be able to respond quickly to changes in patient and venue conditions. Physical abilities testing required. Additional department specific physical requirements may be identified for unique responsibilities within the department by the department manager.
Education, Experience and Certifications
Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing. BSN preferred. Current RN license or temporary license as a Registered Nurse Petitioner in the state in which you work and reside or if declaring a National License Compact (NLC) state as your primary state of residency, meet the licensure requirements in your home state. For Non-National License Compact states, current RN license or temporary license as a Registered Nurse Petitioner required in the state where the RN works. ACLS preferred. BLS—Current Basic Life support for Healthcare Provider status according to the American Heart Association required. At least one year experience in ED or Critical Car Environment preferred.
