Overview

Opportunity for 2nd year college student to work around school schedule and have on the job training.

JOB SUMMARY:

Provides optimal patient care, appropriate to the span of ages served, while efficiently assisting with reproducing patient set ups and preparing for delivery of quality treatments. The trainee performs while under the supervision and/or direction of Staff Radiation Therapists and technical supervisors and in accordance with the Hospital and Departmental policies and procedures.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: 

  • Currently in the second year of the Forsyth Technical Community College’s Radiation Therapy Program
  • One year of training in the Forsyth Technical Community College’s Radiation Therapy Program
  • Certification in cardio-pulmonary resuscitation

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Adheres to the general hospital standards to promote a cooperative work environment by utilizing communication skills, interpersonal relationships and team building.  
  2. Prepares linear accelerators and radiation therapy equipment effectively and efficiently while under the supervision and/or direction of staff therapists and supervisors. 
  3. Adheres to radiation exposure regulations and practices to ensure adequate radiation protection.
  4. Ensures accurate patient records via correct data entry, validation and archival of images. 
  5. Provides age-developmental appropriate care in accordance with Age-Developmental Specific Guidelines for the age groups served when participating in patient care. 

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Able to communicate on a professional level with physicians, nurses and other ancillary professional staff when discussing treatments and patient care.
  • Clinical skills to enable recognition and to function accordingly in relation to prioritizing of patient needs. 
  • Adaptable to changing work schedules
