Faculty Physician Radiology Breast Imaging

Overview

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Breast Imaging Radiologist to join our medical team. As a Breast Imaging Radiologist, you will be responsible for mammograms, breast ultrasounds, breast MRIs, and other breast imaging modalities to aid in the diagnosis and management of breast diseases. Your expertise will be crucial in providing accurate and timely diagnoses to aid in the treatment and management of abdominal conditions and diseases. Additionally, you will collaborate closely with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
Roles and Responsibilities:
1.    Image Interpretation: Interpret mammograms, breast ultrasounds, and breast MRI scans to detect and diagnose breast abnormalities. Perform image-guided breast biopsies and other interventional procedures when necessary.

2.    Diagnostic Reporting: Prepare detailed and comprehensive diagnostic reports based on your interpretations of breast imaging studies. Ensure that reports are clear, concise, and provide clinically relevant information to assist referring physicians in patient management.

3.    Consultation and Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with referring physicians and other healthcare professionals to discuss imaging findings, provide consultation, and assist in developing appropriate treatment plans for patients with breast abnormalities.

4.    Minimally Invasive Procedures: Perform minimally invasive, image-guided procedures, such as biopsies, and aspirations Use imaging techniques, such as fluoroscopy, or ultrasound, to guide and monitor procedures in real-time, ensuring precision and safety. Administer local anesthesia or sedation as needed to ensure patient comfort during procedures.
5.    Quality Assurance: Maintain high standards of diagnostic accuracy and quality assurance in interpreting breast imaging studies. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and peer review processes to ensure the highest level of patient care.
6.    Continuing Education: Stay updated with the latest advancements, techniques, and guidelines in breast imaging through continuous education (CME) and participation in relevant conferences, workshops, and seminars.
7.    Patient Care: Demonstrate empathy, professionalism, and excellent communication skills in interactions with patients undergoing breast imaging studies. Provide clear explanations of procedures and findings to patients and address any concerns or questions they may have.
8.    Research and Academic Activities: Engage in academic and research activities related to breast imaging. Contribute to the advancement of knowledge in the field through participation in research projects, publications, and presentations. Also participate in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows, imparting knowledge about imaging techniques, anatomy, and pathology.
9.    Adherence to Regulatory Guidelines: Ensure compliance with all regulatory guidelines, standards, and protocols related to breast imaging, patient safety, and data confidentiality.
10.    Equipment Maintenance: Collaborate with the technical staff to ensure proper maintenance and calibration of imaging equipment used for breast imaging studies, ensuring optimal image quality and diagnostic accuracy.
11.    Teamwork and Professional Development: Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment by actively participating in team meetings, case discussions, and professional development activities. Mentor and support junior staff and residents in their training and development in breast imaging.
12.    Requirements:
MD or DO Degree required.
Board Certified (or eligible) by the American Board of Radiology or equivalent with additional training in Breast Imaging.
North Carolina Medical License or Eligible required.
