Overview
Primary Purpose:
Maintains strategic oversight and operational performance within the Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist market. Provides leadership guidance and direction in achieving outcomes consistent with organizational mission, philosophy, goals, and objectives. Assumes leadership for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of clinically effective and efficient systems of care and service within the continuum of care.
Major Responsibilities:
- Leads the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of care delivery models and services that meet or exceed customer expectations.
- Oversees OR nursing directors and managers at all Wake market sites of care including the OR, pre/PACU, and Surgical Services Academy.
- Provides effective and coordinated leadership of patient care within specified clinical patient service areas.
- Leads the fiscal oversight of allocated resources in order to optimize efficient and effective utilization.
- Develops annual operating budget for assigned areas that encompasses both current and future operational demands.
- Participates in the strategic planning structures and processes with administration, medical staff, and clinical leaders.
- Maintains flexibility in the business unit which allows for easy transition of resources to respond to changes in practice or demand in the healthcare market.
- Designs and directs the work of the team(s). Selects, coaches, and develops team(s). Sets clear expectations to inspire and motivate the team. Manages performance by recognizing achievement, providing feedback, and administering progressive discipline when necessary.
- May develop and/or recommend operating and capital budgets and controls expenditures within approved budget objectives.
- Responsible for understanding and adhering to the organization's Code of Ethical Conduct and for ensuring that people actions, and the actions of employees supervised, comply with the policies, regulations, and laws applicable to the organization's business.
Job Requirements:
- Education: Master's degree in nursing, health care management, or business administration required. Doctorate in Nursing (DNP/PhD) preferred.
- Certification/License: Current Registered Nurse license in good standing in the State of North Carolina required. Certification in administration or clinical specialty within one year of hire required.
Work Experience:
- 5 years of management level experience required.
- 10 years of experience in relevant nursing areas with management experience in an academic medical center or tertiary hospital setting required.
