Education/Experience/Certifications to Qualify:
- Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry or other related scientific fields.
- Two years of related clinical/research experience in a successful assisted reproductive technology program.
- Proven record of working in a successful ART program.
- Prefer: Certification as technical supervisor in andrology and embryology by the American Board of Bioanalysis.
- Prior experience in setting up and preparing the laboratory for CAP, CLIA, FDA and JCAHO inspections.
- Experience with trophectoderm biopsy.
Essential Functions:
- Must be willing to learn and perform all aspects of the embryology/andrology laboratory services as described above under direct/indirect supervision.
- Operating chemistry analyzer.
- Must be able to follow strict protocols and guidelines without deviation.
- Accurate maintenance of laboratory records, including, but not limited to, proficiency testing, quality control, equipment maintenance, monitoring and calibration, patient test and clinical procedure records, deviations from established performance specifications and corrective actions taken.
- Designs and implements lab safety and security systems, hazardous waste management, chemical hygiene and injury prevention programs.
- Ability to recognize problems which may adversely affect patient test or procedure results, and either rectifying the problem or reporting it to the laboratory director, initiates and participates in problem solving using available reference material when necessary.
- Demonstrates a good spirit of team work and the ability to communicate effectively with patients, physician, and clinical staff.
- Assists in implementing quality control and laboratory maintenance per laboratory protocols and regulation guidelines (FDA, CLIA, CAP, and JCAHO).
- Works weekends, holidays and extended hours as required
- Performs assignments as requested by Lab Director.
