Overview
The Laboratory assistant prepares blood and urine for analysis to diagnose, treat and prevent disease. Performs pre-analytical duties including checking pending lists, ordering and stocking supplies, assist technician/technologists and sets up microbiology cultures. Follows State, Joint Commission, CAP and other agency regulations. Organizes and prioritizes workload for maximum productivity.
Requirements:
A. Education
1. High school graduate or equivalent with completion of a NCCLS accredited Phlebotomy program or
2. Bachelors degree in Biology, Chemistry or other science.
B. Experience
1. Minimum of two years experience as a phlebotomist or
2. Relevant lab experience from completion of Bachelors degree in Biology, Chemistry or other related science.
3. Must complete six months on the job training.
C. Licensure/Certification
1. PBT(ASCP), or equivalent is preferred
